  • I Am a Woman…

    I am a woman…
We celebrate the International Women’s Day, because “human rights are women’s rights, and women’s rights are human rights”!!

  • Vocabulary of Solitude…

I was so moved with the “Vocabulary of Solitude” exhibition by Ugo Rondinone at The Bass Museum in Miami Beach…
Forty five life-size clown figures in passive, contemplative moods who together describe the anguish of human solitude.
Dream,  sleep, wake,  daydream, breathe, be, remember,  sit,  cry,  hope…. to name a few of our human emotions. As described by Rondinone, “Good art revolutionizes your whole being. It is something that stops you, or slows you down”.

  • Chubby Hearts over London…

Just LOVE this!! “Chubby Hearts over London”, the design project conceived by English designer Anya Hindmarch as a love letter to London, that has heart balloons flying over the city!!
Starting on Valentine’s Day, and continuing through the soon to start London’s Fashion Week , giant chubby heart balloons will be suspended over London landmarks as a declaration of love to the city. The balloons will disappear each evening and appear again in a different location each day. Now, isn’t this just a great, inspiring idea??

  • Roman and Williams Guild New York…

I have been discovering many interesting places and art exhibitions to share with you this month!!
Top of my list, the beautiful new Roman and Williams Guild store in Soho, New York. Part decor store, with objects from all over the world; part florist, with the most amazing sculptural flower arrangements; part French café, part bookstore… all blending in perfectly!!
A definite stop to discover on your next trip to New York.
Roman and Williams Guild, 53 Howard Street, Soho, New York.

  • Greetings From New York…

We are still wandering… escaping from our “new” imposed  normal of more than three months without electric power, every moment away from home wishing to be able to return to normality. New York is home away from home, and it is breathtakingly beautiful during the Holidays. Hope you enjoy these images. and that you are having a wonderful Holiday season. I will be posting up to the moment photos on Instagram; see you there!!

  • Wanderlust in Miami…

I have been away from my blog lately…
The unfortunate current situation here at home after hurricane Maria have made us decide to take off as often as we can, to avoid the long days without electric power.
We have been exploring Miami recently. Getting lost with wanderlust!  Please visit us on Instagram for up to the minute photos we have been sharing with all our friends.  Hope to see you there!!
Till then, receive my best wishes for a very happy, peaceful and joyful Christmas.  May your days  and nights be merry and bright!!

  • A Holiday Tradition…

Holidays are not complete without the always stunning Bergdorf Goodman windows!!
This year, Bergdorf pays homage to some of the most recognized cultural institutions of New York, with the “To New York With Love” windows, capturing the city’s appreciation for the visual arts, history, music, film and more… J’adore!!

  • Halloween…

This is one of the images I love and comes to my mind when thinking Halloween…
Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard wearing cat and dog masks in the iconic 1961 film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. Lovely, classic and timeless!!
In that spirit, Happy Halloween to all!!

  • After Maria; Renewal…

From my window, from the left, the day after Maria, and today…
I decided to be silent since the catastrophic Hurricane Maria hit our country, Puerto Rico…
Like most of us these past days, I have experienced a mixture of feelings, some unrecognizable by me before… fear, despair, hope, hopelessness,  grief,  compassion,  desperation, consideration, anger, kindness, indignation, tenderness, exasperation, tolerance, and a deep feeling of sadness…
I didn’t want to post on the destruction done by Maria… you have probably seen so much of that, as have I…
But life goes on, and so, with a broken heart and a sense of hope, inspired by the daily miracle of renewal our nature is giving us, we will move forward, finding inspiration in what we love, and carrying Puerto Rico deep within our hearts!
    Dios bendiga nuestra isla!!!

  • Life, Interrupted…

Seems unreal, feels like a bad dream, but we are expecting devastating, already called “catastrophic” Hurricane Maria in just hours.
Life as we know it, has been interrupted. The waiting for what’s to come is excruciating and exhausting.
To all of you living here at home or in any of the territories around Maria’s path… once again, take care, be strong, stay connected, help any and all you can; and Godspeed to all!!  See you as soon as we can.

  • After Irma; Resilience…

“Fall seven times, stand up eight”. -Japanese Proverb
Saw this tiny flower in my garden the day before Hurricane Irma, sure it would fly away with the first wind. Stronger trees were bended and broken. She still stands strong.
By the grace of God, we here in Puerto Rico will be fine, though we still face difficult times ahead. My thoughts and prayers to all still on Irma’s path, or facing so much destruction. We will come stronger out of this!!

  • Irma…

The past days have been a whirlwind of emotions…
Following Irma, watching Irma, tracking Irma, getting ready for Irma, waiting for Irma. We in Puerto Rico are now facing one of the most powerful and potentially devastating, catastrophic hurricanes in history; Hurricane Irma.
So, to all of you living here at home or in any of the territories around Irma’s path.. take care, be strong, stay connected, help any and all you can, and Godspeed to all. See you soon!!

  • A Visit to the Pollock-Krasner Studio…

Visiting the Jackson Pollock (1912-1956) and Lee Krasner (1908-1984) house and studio in the woods of Springs, in East Hampton, was a very special and touching experience. I have always admired Pollock’s and Krasner’s work, but experiencing the place where so much of their art was created, was so very moving… The couple moved there from New York trying to find a “healing place” from Pollock’s struggle with depression and alcoholism. In this small studio, full of beautiful light, in this secluded area of East Hampton, some of Pollock’s best Abstract Expressionist pieces were created. After his death, Krasener continued her amazing work here as well. To walk over the paint-splattered studio floor where Pollock’s footprints are still visible, surrounded by the silence and stillness of the woods… sooo beautifully inspiring and emotional!!
Will post about the residence in a future post…

  • Black Swan Antiques…

What I love most about traveling is the thrill of discovering places that have long been there and you have not been aware of…
Black Swan Antiques in Sag Harbor was such a discovery!! It’s like going on a treasure hunt in this wonder of a store full to the brim with oil paintings, furniture, antique mannequins, “Americana” folk-art, sea-inspired pieces, vintage signs and  decorative items and sooo much more!!  Every corner with an exciting, inspiring surprise . This has been a true Sag-Harbor experience that is now on our “to return” list when in the Hamptons…

  • Gucci Décor…

Home with the Alessandro Michele touch!  For all the Gucci lovers, like myself, the Italian iconic fashion house is introducing Gucci Décor this coming fall. Decorative items, furniture pieces, pillows, candles and much more, designed by Alessandro Michele. The Midas touch now also for your home… J’adore!!

  • La Perla…

La Perla… it had been on my wish list way too long;  a visit to La Perla. This was the right moment. Secluded in the heart of Old San Juan for so many reasons, a community that is slowly opening up!! Visionary community leaders like Yashira Gómez and Coco, which I was so happy to meet, will surely see that it happens!!

  • One Kings Lane Southampton…

One of the perks of visiting The Hamptons during the summer months is discovering the great stores that “Pop-Up” just for the season. And such an inspiring merchandising and visual design!!

  • Seated Ballerina…

We were soooo lucky to see this amazing art installation on our last trip to New York;  such a great surprise!!
“Seated Ballerina” by Jeff Koons, the art installation in Rockefeller Center was such a breathtaking piece to see and  experience. At 45 feet high, the inflatable sculpture is Koons contemporary interpretation of the mythological goddess Venus. A prodigious, beautiful art work that makes you stand and stare in awe!!

  • Regal East Hampton…

We recently visited the lovely town of East Hampton, called “America’s most beautiful village” discovering and revisiting some of the spectacular places to see around town..
The village of East Hampton, settled in the 1660s, was one of America’s first English settlements, and still maintains the mix of history and grandeur that makes it so unique and special. Love, love the impressive, regal, elegant white houses you can find in almost every street with impeccable lawns and the most lovely landscaping you can ever imagine; just a dream!!

  • The Felt Bodega…

There’s a long list of exciting and cool Pop-Up stores and special installations going on this summer… a lot to see!!
The Felt Bodega by British artist Lucy Sparrow at the Standard High Line hotel in New York tops my list!! The New York  Bodega where any and every item you can imagine seeing in your corner store, and more, is made of felt.
Quoting Sparrow about the idea behind her art installation: “I want the work to make people think about the loss of community spaces when these small shops disappear”. Colorful, creative and cool!!

  • New York’s Flower Market…

I so much enjoy visiting New York’s flower market on 28th Street early in the morning, especially during the spring months..
The hustle and bustle of florists, buyers and floral designers; the color explosion of the most amazingly beautiful blooms, the fragrance, the lush greenery…
I looove looking at the shelves where florists stack-up their selection of flowers and greenery and imagine what the final project will look like. Creativity at work; sooo inspiring!!

  • All the Pinks @ Pietro Nolita…

It must feel like pink paradise for all the pink lovers out there…
The recently opened all pink ’50s style diner-bistro serving Italian dishes in New York, is already a favorite of the fashion crowd.
The walls, tables, lighting, chairs, dishes, plant pots, even some of the items in the menu a different shade of pink !!.
Pietro Lolita is a fun, kitschy place to visit. An experience if you are in the neighborhood and looooove pink!! 174 Elizabeth Street, New York.
