  • The Fall Collections with Artist Conie Vallese…

I am so much looking forward to the first fall fashion editorials, as summer is slowly winding down…
Love this WSJ Magazine spread featuring Argentinian artist Conie Vallese; the “sculptural minimalism” fashions and the beautiful bright shades of red feel exciting and new. I have also included  photos of some of Vallese’s artwork, they seem to blend in sooo beautifully.  J’adore!!

  • The Eccentrics…

A definition of “Eccentric” reads like this:  Eccentric: A wild yet adventurous individual. Magnetic personality and quite curious. Uncommon. Unique.  Some of the people I admire, are definitely eccentric!!
I love this small, unique book by Assouline featuring a diverse group of eccentrics!! From Iris Apfel to Dita Von Teese, from Lynn Yaeger to Kelly Wearstler, Donna Karan to Edward Bess and many more… Each eccentric in their idiosyncratic, special way;  each an inspiring one-of-a kind..

  • Rafael Rivera Rosa: Mirada Extendida…

I recently visited and so much enjoyed the exhibition  “Rafael Rivera Rosa: Mirada Extendida” in the Museo de Las Américas in Old San Juan…
This retrospective exhibition on the amazing work of Puerto Rican artist Rafael Rivera Rosa is visually captivating, powerful, colorful, strong and so unique !! Strongly recommend a visit to all art lovers!!

  • Art of The In-Between…

The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring 2017 exhibition, ” Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between”, to open May 4th, is the first Costume Institute show devoted to a single, living designer since the Yves Saint Laurent exhibition in 1983, and examines the amazing work of this iconic Japanese designer.
As a preview of the exhibition, we quote Anna Wintour:  “Many will attend out of fascination, admiration, interest, curiosity, something that will be provoking, very transgressive, very progressive. If you are not a fashion obsessive, you’re going to be incredibly baffled. But art should do all those things.” An exhibition not to be missed!!

  • The Sensuous Flowers of Georgia O’Keeffe…

The bold, sensuous, luscious, fascinating, distinct, magnified flower paintings of renowned figure of American modernism Georgia O’Keeffe, in a not to be missed exhibition… “Georgia O’Keeffe: Living Modern”, at the Brooklyn Museum in New York..
Few artists have imagined flowers like O’Keeffe… just breathtakingly beautiful!!

  • Franca Sozzani’s World…

I never met Franca Sozzani, but in some strange way, I feel like I knew her for a long time…
Her passing last December left me so, so sad, like I had lost a special friend, knowing that I would always miss her amazing talent, her art, her groundbreaking fashion inspiration…
For more than three decades the editor of Italian Vogue presented fashion as art, breaking rules and barriers as no other in her trade. In editing my never ending pile of fashion magazines, I could never part with her renderings of Vogue Italia… they were, and still are, so very unique and special!
She opened the doors of her new, recently remodeled home in Paris to Architectural Digest just weeks before her death… an amazingly beautiful Pied- à- Terre that reflects her passion for art and design… just a glimpse of Franca Sozzani’s world…

  • In Blue by Arnaldo Roche…

    These blues I love!!
Visited Puerto Rican, internationally acclaimed artist Arnaldo Roche’s exhibition at Museo de San Juan: “In Blue: Signals after touch”; “En Azul: Señales después del tacto”, and it was an overwhelming experience! Just the size of the art pieces exhibited make Roche’s strong, dramatic, imposing style even more impressive. Using a monochromatic blue palette they are not only striking , but beautiful!! Just stunning!!

  • John Derian Picture Book…

I have always admired the incredible, amazing talent of John Derian, always creating the most beautiful art and collectible decoupage pieces… His stores are a world of wonder for me; I could spend hours admiring every item, every piece, from paperweights to plates, to furniture, both new or vintage.. a never ending world to explore!!
So, his recent John Derian Picture Book is music to my ears; a beautiful collection of some of his most cherished images from the 18th and 19th centuries, that serve him as inspiration…

  • Bright Lights…

Knowing what we now know, and almost two weeks after the sad deaths of Carrie Fisher and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, of what seems to have been a broken heart, we are presented with this new HBO documentary, “Bright Lights” to air January 7th, featuring mother and daughter. Just watching this trailer breaks my heart!! So emotional…

  • Missing Franca Sozzani…

One of fashion’s iconic figures, Franca Sozzani, Editor in Chief of Italian Vogue, passed away in Milan today…
A real visionary, for almost three decades Sozzani turned Italian Vogue into a must-read global magazine that every fashion loving soul, like myself, needed to read, always being inspired by her impeccable, often controversial vision of art, fashion, architecture, beauty, and all things new, meaningful and exciting…
Her outstanding, unique voice and inspiring work will be missed !!
