  • Vocabulary of Solitude…

I was so moved with the “Vocabulary of Solitude” exhibition by Ugo Rondinone at The Bass Museum in Miami Beach…
Forty five life-size clown figures in passive, contemplative moods who together describe the anguish of human solitude.
Dream,  sleep, wake,  daydream, breathe, be, remember,  sit,  cry,  hope…. to name a few of our human emotions. As described by Rondinone, “Good art revolutionizes your whole being. It is something that stops you, or slows you down”.

  • Prada @ Miami’s Design District…

Loved visiting the new Prada store in the heart of the Miami Design District …
The interior of the store is perfection!! Prada’s signature green walls and checkerboard floors mixed in with wonderful, unique mid-century furniture  from Miuccia’s personal collection looks so new!!
Loved the store’s special Miami  inspired collections as well. Colorful, light, and fresh, but still very much with the Prada aesthetic. A must stop for every fashionista when in Miami Beach.

  • Linda’s Front Row Fitting Room…

As if a visit to Linda’s at Bergdorf’s unique shop wasn’t a fashion moment to enjoy, the fitting room is an experience by itself !!
Walls totally covered with front-row fashion week invites from years of Fargo’s work as a buyer and fashion director for Bergdorf’s as well as unique photos and artwork from her personal collection. All the big names are here… so many beautiful invites that are collectible art pieces on their own. Such a great idea!!

  • Roman and Williams Guild New York…

I have been discovering many interesting places and art exhibitions to share with you this month!!
Top of my list, the beautiful new Roman and Williams Guild store in Soho, New York. Part decor store, with objects from all over the world; part florist, with the most amazing sculptural flower arrangements; part French café, part bookstore… all blending in perfectly!!
A definite stop to discover on your next trip to New York.
Roman and Williams Guild, 53 Howard Street, Soho, New York.

  • Wanderlust in Miami…

I have been away from my blog lately…
The unfortunate current situation here at home after hurricane Maria have made us decide to take off as often as we can, to avoid the long days without electric power.
We have been exploring Miami recently. Getting lost with wanderlust!  Please visit us on Instagram for up to the minute photos we have been sharing with all our friends.  Hope to see you there!!
Till then, receive my best wishes for a very happy, peaceful and joyful Christmas.  May your days  and nights be merry and bright!!

  • A Holiday Tradition…

Holidays are not complete without the always stunning Bergdorf Goodman windows!!
This year, Bergdorf pays homage to some of the most recognized cultural institutions of New York, with the “To New York With Love” windows, capturing the city’s appreciation for the visual arts, history, music, film and more… J’adore!!

  • A Visit to the Pollock-Krasner Studio…

Visiting the Jackson Pollock (1912-1956) and Lee Krasner (1908-1984) house and studio in the woods of Springs, in East Hampton, was a very special and touching experience. I have always admired Pollock’s and Krasner’s work, but experiencing the place where so much of their art was created, was so very moving… The couple moved there from New York trying to find a “healing place” from Pollock’s struggle with depression and alcoholism. In this small studio, full of beautiful light, in this secluded area of East Hampton, some of Pollock’s best Abstract Expressionist pieces were created. After his death, Krasener continued her amazing work here as well. To walk over the paint-splattered studio floor where Pollock’s footprints are still visible, surrounded by the silence and stillness of the woods… sooo beautifully inspiring and emotional!!
Will post about the residence in a future post…

  • Black Swan Antiques…

What I love most about traveling is the thrill of discovering places that have long been there and you have not been aware of…
Black Swan Antiques in Sag Harbor was such a discovery!! It’s like going on a treasure hunt in this wonder of a store full to the brim with oil paintings, furniture, antique mannequins, “Americana” folk-art, sea-inspired pieces, vintage signs and  decorative items and sooo much more!!  Every corner with an exciting, inspiring surprise . This has been a true Sag-Harbor experience that is now on our “to return” list when in the Hamptons…

And such an inspiring merchandising and visual design!!

  • Seated Ballerina…

We were soooo lucky to see this amazing art installation on our last trip to New York;  such a great surprise!!
“Seated Ballerina” by Jeff Koons, the art installation in Rockefeller Center was such a breathtaking piece to see and  experience. At 45 feet high, the inflatable sculpture is Koons contemporary interpretation of the mythological goddess Venus. A prodigious, beautiful art work that makes you stand and stare in awe!!

  • Aerin Lauder’s Southampton Pop-Up…

Ahhhh… the Hamptons during the summer season is such an experience!! Not only is it soooo beautiful, but there are so many exciting events going on!!
Loved Aerin Lauder’s Southampton Pop-Up store in a colorful, bright space designed by Jacques Grange. Resort inspired clothing, tableware, home accessories, vintage pieces, jewelry , gifts, books, and of course, Aerin’s fragrance and candle lines. So tastefully done!!  J’adore!!
Aerin Southampton, 83 Main Street, Southampton.

  • Regal East Hampton…

We recently visited the lovely town of East Hampton, called “America’s most beautiful village” discovering and revisiting some of the spectacular places to see around town..
The village of East Hampton, settled in the 1660s, was one of America’s first English settlements, and still maintains the mix of history and grandeur that makes it so unique and special. Love, love the impressive, regal, elegant white houses you can find in almost every street with impeccable lawns and the most lovely landscaping you can ever imagine; just a dream!!

  • The Breathtakingly Beautiful Virgins of Sevilla…

For me, to think of Holy Week, means to think of Sevilla, and the breathtakingly beautiful images of La Virgen Dolorosa, the weeping, suffering religious figures of the crying Holy Mother, seen especially during Holy Week; admired and revered by the faithful from all over the world…
There are so many wonderful virgins in Sevilla… each so beautiful and extraordinary!!  Just to name some of the ones I love and find hauntingly beautiful: La Macarena,  Esperanza de Triana,  Virgen de las Angustias,  Virgen del Socorro,  Virgen del Rosario, Virgen de Guadalupe,  Virgen de la Paz,  Virgen de la Victoria,  Virgen de la Trinidad,  Virgen de la Candelaria,  María Santísima de la O,  Virgen de la Consolación.
You will see many of them during the Holy Week Processions in Sevilla taking place since Monday, and ending Friday with one of the most awaited and loved, La Virgen de la Macarena.

  • Diptyque’s Heavenly Store…

Not only are Diptyque’s fragrances heavenly, their jewel of a store on Bleecker street in New York has to be, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful perfume stores ever!! Perfectly done luxuriousness!!
British based designer Christopher Jenner envisioned this marvel of a store for the Parisian house of perfumes and candles inspired in the Art Deco style and the heritage of the brand.
Gold starburst ceilings, hand painted mirrors, side mirrors painted with iconic images of Paris and New York… are just some of the beautiful details that make this small jewel of a store a must stop when in New York!!

For me, few Holiday events are more traditional and meaningful than visiting the beautiful Christmas tree and 18th century Neapolitan Crèche at the Metropolitan Museum of Art when visiting New York… just priceless!!
Admiring the 20 feet high tree in front of the 18th century Spanish choir screen from the Cathedral of Valladolid with all the glorious details, is an experience to be had at least once, if you visit the city at this time of the year…
