  • The Breathtakingly Beautiful Virgins of Sevilla…

For me, to think of Holy Week, means to think of Sevilla, and the breathtakingly beautiful images of La Virgen Dolorosa, the weeping, suffering religious figures of the crying Holy Mother, seen especially during Holy Week; admired and revered by the faithful from all over the world…
There are so many wonderful virgins in Sevilla… each so beautiful and extraordinary!!  Just to name some of the ones I love and find hauntingly beautiful: La Macarena,  Esperanza de Triana,  Virgen de las Angustias,  Virgen del Socorro,  Virgen del Rosario, Virgen de Guadalupe,  Virgen de la Paz,  Virgen de la Victoria,  Virgen de la Trinidad,  Virgen de la Candelaria,  María Santísima de la O,  Virgen de la Consolación.
You will see many of them during the Holy Week Processions in Sevilla taking place since Monday, and ending Friday with one of the most awaited and loved, La Virgen de la Macarena.

  • Diptyque’s Heavenly Store…

Not only are Diptyque’s fragrances heavenly, their jewel of a store on Bleecker street in New York has to be, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful perfume stores ever!! Perfectly done luxuriousness!!
British based designer Christopher Jenner envisioned this marvel of a store for the Parisian house of perfumes and candles inspired in the Art Deco style and the heritage of the brand.
Gold starburst ceilings, hand painted mirrors, side mirrors painted with iconic images of Paris and New York… are just some of the beautiful details that make this small jewel of a store a must stop when in New York!!

Admiring the 20 feet high tree in front of the 18th century Spanish choir screen from the Cathedral of Valladolid with all the glorious details, is an experience to be had at least once, if you visit the city at this time of the year…

  • Inspiration of the day…

  • A visit to Madrid’s Iconic Lhardy…

Every time I visit Madrid, Lhardy is one of those must stops I can’t miss!!
When you enter Lhardy, you feel time has stopped!! Ahhh… if these walls could talk!! Since 1839 so much of the history of Madrid has been plotted inside these walls. The place for intellectuals, aristocrats, politicians; the who is who of the city’s elite made Lhardy the place to meet and be seen..

  • The Uniqueness of Hotel Unico…

In our recent visit to Madrid, we wanted to explore staying in new, exciting hotels we had read about…
I must say our stay in Hotel Unico in Madrid, in the Barrio de Salamanca, close to some of Madrid’s best museums and shopping areas, was amazing… Housed in a 19th Century palace transformed into a modern boutique hotel, the design and details are superb!! Love the chic, neutral color decor; so relaxing and inviting…
The wonderful personalized service was the star here… a fantastic group that caters to your every need, always so nice and pleasing, making Hotel Unico one of Spain’s best boutique hotels, without a doubt!!

We recently spent a few days in Madrid, and were fortunate to see the “El Bosco” exhibition in El Prado Museum…

  • Angelina, always…

Angelina, a must stop whenever I visit Paris… since 1903, the iconic Paris tearoom visited by aristocracy and the literary and social elite.
Every time I visit Angelina, it’s impossible not to imagine Coco Chanel seated at her favorite table, or Marcel Proust having his afternoon tea with freshly baked Madeleines. Chocolate lover?? Try Chocolat L’Africain. The best hot chocolate ever!!

  • Fashion Forward, Part 1…

Finally made it to The Musée des Arts Décoratifs Museum in Paris to see the exceptional exhibition “Fashion Forward: 3 Siècles de Mode”.. “Fashion Forward: 3 Centuries of Fashion”…
This fantastic exhibition is an anthology of this art form, taking us on a journey of the evolution of fashion from 1715 to 2015, beginning with the court attires of the 18th century, and ending with an incredible display of designers of the 20th and 21st century.
There are so many wonderful pieces, I will show them in two parts..these are some of the styles I loved most from this exhibition… Fashion Forward, Part 1…

  • Qui donc nous sauvera??

Qui donc nous sauvera?? So,who will save us??
This sign in front of the Saint-Germain des Prés church in Paris was so powerful, I had to take this photo while visiting the city some days ago… made me stop, and stare, and meditate…
I find it so appropriate to share it with you today… terrorism hurts… So, who will save us??

  • Sonia Rykiel’s Store…

Just love the new vibe of the Sonia Rykiel stores..
The Paris Left Bank store on Boulevard Saint Germain is so super cool !! Inspired by the literary French Cafés, over 40,000 vintage books are lining the walls of the mostly bright red rooms; lips, cigarettes, books and pencils decorate the artsy carpets… Conceived by Julie de Libran, the brand’s new artistic director, the new concept stores are a good reason to visit, besides the wonderful collection for Fall 2016 now showing, of course!!
