Enchanted: Sofia Coppola’s Captivating World…

Sofia Coppola just made history by becoming only the second female filmmaker to win the Best Director prize at the Cannes Film Festival for “The Beguiled” film.
The beautiful photos by Steven Meisel for the June Wall Street Journal Magazine editorial “Enchanted: Sofia Coppola’s Captivating World” couldn’t have been planned for a better moment…

“Piscine Privée”…

The retro ’50s- ’60s trend seen in the Miu Miu  Spring-Summer collection is the clear inspiration for this Marie Claire France editorial “Piscine Privée”
High waisted bathing suits and shorts, retro hues and prints, bathing suit silhouettes that remind us of Esther Williams..  even the flower embellished swim caps… the colors are so beautiful and refreshing.. J’adore!!

Rafael Rivera Rosa: Mirada Extendida…

I recently visited and so much enjoyed the exhibition  “Rafael Rivera Rosa: Mirada Extendida” in the Museo de Las Américas in Old San Juan…
This retrospective exhibition on the amazing work of Puerto Rican artist Rafael Rivera Rosa is visually captivating, powerful, colorful, strong and so unique !! Strongly recommend a visit to all art lovers!!

The Drifter…

Love this British Vogue editorial shot by Mario Testino in the coast and beaches of Goa, India, featuring the young and latest Brazilian “model wonder” Ellen Rosa… J’adore!!

And we quote…

What you wear is how you present yourself to the world, especially today, when human contacts go so fast. Fashion is instant language.

Miuccia Prada

Quintessential Prada…

The beautiful Prada Resort 2018 collection, shown in Prada’s own “Osservatorio” space, above the amazing Galleria Vittorio Emmanuelle II in Milan, was a study in contradictions..
Candy store pastels, stark black;  “pretty pretty”, sporty;  delicate, utilitarian;  modernist, timeless… quintessential Miuccia Prada.. soooo good!!

Chic Simplicity…

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen presented a selection of  lovely, chic, minimalistic styles they are so well known for in The Row’s Pre-Fall 2017 collection.
Elegant, pared down styles; chic simplicity that wins every time. Forever pieces to have and to hold…

Art of The In-Between…

The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring 2017 exhibition, ” Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between”, to open May 4th, is the first Costume Institute show devoted to a single, living designer since the Yves Saint Laurent exhibition in 1983, and examines the amazing work of this iconic Japanese designer.
As a preview of the exhibition, we quote Anna Wintour:  “Many will attend out of fascination, admiration, interest, curiosity, something that will be provoking, very transgressive, very progressive. If you are not a fashion obsessive, you’re going to be incredibly baffled. But art should do all those things.” An exhibition not to be missed!!

And we quote…

Fashion design is a good way of expressing values that are important to me: work hard, get strong, work together, live for what you believe in. For me, fashion design is just an expression of what I feel about life.

Rei Kawakubo
